Chapter 6 - Always Praying and Not Fainting

Luke 11:5-8, 18:1-8

  1. Ask with shamelessness

God takes delight in holy boldness that will not take no for an answer. it is an expression of great faith, and nothing pleases God more than faith. (Syrophoenician Woman)

  2. Don’t be spiritually lazy and call it submission to God’s will.
  3. Pray it through. See your prayer through to completion.

Chapter 5 - Praying in the Spirit

  1. In the Spirit - Ephesians 6:18, Jude 20

It is the prayer that God the Holy Spirit inspires that God the Father answers.

  2. With Faith - Mark 11:24

There must be confident unwaivering expectation.

    How does this faith come?

    • It cannot be created - Romans 10:17 - Faith comes by hearing the word of God.

Study the word - find its promises, believe them.

Chapter 4 - Praying in the Name of Christ and According to the Will of God

  1. In the Name of Christ

To pray in the name of Christ is to pray on the ground, not of my credit but his.

I have no merit, no credit, no claim on God that he must answer my prayers. It is Christ’s merit, his credit, his claim that God answers.

  2. According to His Will - 1 John 5:14-15

How can we know a prayer is his will?

    1. By the Word

God has revealed his will in his word!

Study the promises of God’s word and then spread them out in prayer before the Lord.

    2. By the teaching of the Holy Spirit - Romans 8:26-27

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted.

Chapter 3 - Obeying and Praying

  1. Keep His Commandments - 1 John 3:22

The one who expects God to do what he asks him must on his part do whatever God bids him.

The secret to much unanswered prayer is that we are not listening to God’s word, and therefore he is not listening to our petitions.

If we would have power in prayer, we must be earnest students of his word to find out what his will regarding us is and then, having found it, do it.

  2. Do those things that are pleasing in his sight

Again much unanswered prayer is because we are not making it the study of our lives to know what would please our father.

  3. In Truth - Psalm 145:18

The prayer that God answers is the prayer that is real, the prayer that asks for something that is sincerely desired.

Chapter 2 - Praying to God

We have seen something of the tremendous importance and the resistless power of prayer, and now we come directly to the question–how to pray with power.

  1. Unto God - Acts 12:5

The prayer that has power is the prayer that is offered unto God

We must have a definite and vivid realization that God is bending over and listening to us pray.

  2. Without Ceasing - Luke 22:44

Without ceasing literally means “stretched-out-ed-ly”. It is a pictorial word, and wonderfully expressive. It represents the soul on a stretch of earnest and intense desire. the prayer that prevails with God is the prayer into which we put our whole soul, stretcing out toward God in intense and agonizing desire.

  3. Of the Church - Acts 12:5

There is power in united prayer. God delights in the unity of His people, and seeks to emphasize it in every way, and so He pronounces a special blessing upon united prayer. - Matthew18:19
