What Is CKMP?

Calvary Kid’s Mentoring Program is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches caring, Christian adults with at-risk kids. Men and women age 21 and over set aside 2-3 hours a week to mentor a child who needs an adult friend … a guide … a role model. Our mentors fill the gap for kids who are growing up in an environment with few resources, bringing them the love of Christ. You don’t have to be an evangelist, trained psychologist or social worker. You just need to be willing to share your faith and have a lot of fun!

“Mentors & MatchKids” build friendships while sharing a variety of activities like sporting events, church outings and group picnics. They explore new skills and academic pursuits. Most importantly, mentors introduce children to the gospel of Jesus Christ, allowing them to build their lives on the solid foundation of God’s love. Calvary mentors are rigorously screened. Each prospective mentor will undergo a background check. As a mentor, you’ll receive comprehensive initial training plus have regular contact with a case manager. Although the ministry is “one-on-one,” the Calvary Kid’s Mentoring Program provides extensive support every step of the way.

This program reaches out to youth between 8 and 15 (16 & 17 year olds may be considered in exceptional circumstances). All youth must demonstrate two of the following risk factors:
From a family with a parent or sibling in prison
Living in a single parent home
Any type of police or court contact
Evidence of substance abuse
Lagging behind in school or has dropped out
Living below the poverty line
History of physical and/or sexual abuse
Needs a role model

Most MatchKids are 10 to 14 years old. Some have parents who are unable to provide opportunities that most youth take for granted. Some are in single parent homes without a father. A few are on probation for minor offenses. And virtually all hunger for that trusted adult who could lead them through the confusion of “growing up” in a culture that affords many wrong choices.

Time won’t wait for children without a place to turn. They just keep getting older … and closer to destruction. They need to know there is a loving Savior who has a plan for their lives. Will you be His hands and lead them to a place in Eternity with Jesus? Help Calvary bring some Light to the dark world of a struggling youth.
