What is Petra?

Petra is an ancient city partially build out of solid rock cliff faces by the ancient Naboteons.  It is in modern Jordan and is in ruins.  Its destruction was predicted by the prophet Obadiah in the book of Obadiah. Petra is known as the "rock city".  The only way into the city was through a very narrow cleft in a rock, thus the city was easily defended by a few soldiers.  The Naboteans thought themselves invincible. During the great tribulation Jews who believe in Jesus will flee to Petra and find refuge there (Revelation12).
