Question / Issue
Is healing a promise guaranteed? References: James 5:14, Mark 16:18, Matthew 8:17, and Psalm 103:3

Answer / Solution
Many people teach that the physical healing of believers in this life is guarranteed based upon Isaiah 53:5 where Isaiah tells us that by the wounds of the Messiah we are healed. To use this verse to justify the belief that physical healing is guarranteed for all believers in this lifetime is to take the passage out of context. Many great believers have not been healed of their physical calamities during this lifetime. In fact, the great Apostle Paul did not receive healing from his thorn in the flesh (2 Cor 12), which was most certainly some type of physical problem. Physical healing is not a promised guarrantee for believers in this lifetime. However, when we receive our resurrection bodies at the Great Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15) we will be physically healed for eternity.
