| Is it scriptural to state, "one hasn't forgiven themself?" |
| Answer / Solution |
| The concept of forgiveness requires that sin has been committed. We sin against others and others can sin against us. The question then becomes, can one sin against himself? From the Bible we tend to see that the choices we make in life in regards to sin are against primarily God Himself. It is God that we need forgiveness from, not ourselves. In regards to other people around us, we can also be forgiven from them, as well as forgive people who have hurt us. I am unaware of any scripture that would hint of forgiving yourself. All speak of forgiving others or asking the LORD to forgive us. If you have sinned in the past or done something wrong, you have not sinned against yourself. You've sinned against God. The good news is that the Bible is clear that if we ask for Forgiveness it is given through the Blood of Jesus. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
