| is it fornication to move in with my boyfriend before marraige , and if so where can i find it in the bible. |

| The Bible does not have verses that prohibit a man and woman from living in the same house when unmarried, however the Bible is very clear about fornication (sexual activity outside of marriage). The problem arises when a couple think that they can live in close proximity with each other and not be tempted to sin. There are less barriers and more opportunities to be in tempting situations. Unfortunately, research shows that cohabitation is correlated with greater likelihood of unhappiness, and domestic violence in the relationship. Cohabiting couple report lower levels of satisfaction in the relationship than married couples. Women are more likely to be abused by a cohabiting boyfriend than a husband. Children are more likely to abused by their mothers’ boyfriends than by her husband, even if the boyfriend is their biological father. If a cohabiting couple ultimately marries, they tend to report lower levels of marital satisfaction and a higher propensity to divorce. So while the world seems to think it's a good thing to "take a test drive", a Christian should seriously think of the consequences of which fornication is only one. We do not condone nor support "living together" before marriage. |
