| Should parents tell their children of they were virgins or not when they got married, or if they have drank beer or smoked pot? Some of of us have made some very stupid decisions in our past. some of made them even after becoming a Christian, what is your advice? |

Unless your children are very young, you should take these questions seriously and talk about them honestly. Our mistakes do not disprove God's Word, rather our regrets and insights can serve to underscore the importance of following it. This is an opportunity to talk about the issues, and your kids will know and tune out if you only repeat Bible policy without being real about it. But you don't need to talk about details either; that can be inappropriate. Sometimes just admitting "I've done things I wish I hadn't" is enough.
What you need to think about ahead of time is how and why you regret those decisions, and why you are convinced now that walking with the Lord is the best thing you've ever done. |
