| If a married woman commits adultry and gets pregnant by the other man and later divorces her husband, can she and the other man be together? |
| Answer / Solution |
Yes, but for obvious reasons, things should never work out this way in spite of the fact that they can. In Matthew 19:9, Jesus says, “And I tell you this, a man who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery — unless his wife has been unfaithful.” Since the wife in this case was unfaithful, the divorce is valid according to scripture; therefore, this woman is free to remarry. God is a God of grace and wishes to bless His children in spite of their self-inflicted problems. Before marrying, this couple should seek pre-marital counseling so that this fate does not plague their new future together. The statistics are not good for second marriage success. The question that both people need to be able to answer is, “why won’t this happen to us again?” Marriage is a good idea for the sake of the child that needs a home with a mother and a father; but, the marriage needs to be based on much more than that if success is to be part of its future. |
