| If when we die, we either go to heaven or hell, how do you explain the passage in the Bible that says that when Christ returns for His church, first the dead in Christ shall rise to meet Him and then the rest of us believers? |

The souls or spirits of those who die before Jesus returns await the resurrection, either in paradise with Jesus or in hell. See
HEB 12:22-24 "But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant.."
At the resurrection, their bodies are raised, and they are either changed to glorified bodies (I COR 15:51-53), or face judgement and the lake of fire (REV 20:12-15). |
