Question / Issue
Should our tithe be on the gross or the net income after taxes?

Answer / Solution

The tithe is an Old Testament command to give a tenth of your first fruits.  In modern "lingo" this would be your gross salary.  Please remember that the tithe IS NOT a New Testament command.  The New Testament only requires that the giver "give with a cheerful heart."

2 Cor 9:6 Now this I say,  he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.

Calvary Community Church makes no further statement about how much anyone should give to the Lord or to His local church.  Let the Lord lead you to the right amount to give to His Work, be it here or elsewhere, and make sure that you are happy in your giving.
