Question / Issue
Pastor Mark talks about living under Grace and not under The Law. I am still confused about the Ten Commandments, isn't that The Law he is talking about?

Answer / Solution
Remember that the Law was more than just the Ten Commandments or the Old Covenant. There were actually 613 laws to follow. Jesus fulfilled the law. The writer of Hebrews says Jesus is the "mediator of a better covenant" (Heb. 8:6). He says, "if the first covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second" (8:7).

He continues in Hebrews 10:9 saying: "He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second." Paul tells the Galatians the purpose of the law of Moses was to "become our tutor to bring us to Christ" (Gal. 3:24). It did so by helping them realize their need for a Savior. "But now that faith is come, we are no longer under a tutor" (3:25). This confirms what Jesus claimed: "Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy but to fulfill" (Matt. 5:17). Christ fulfilled the law of Moses, and with this fulfillment it was "taken out of the way" and "nailed to the cross" (Col. 2:14).

The abrogation of the law of Moses is complete. In its place Christ established a new and better covenant, one which offers the forgiveness of sins through His atoning blood. The law of Moses was given at a specific time, to a specific people, for a specific purpose. That purpose having been fulfilled, it is no longer in force today.

The Bible tells us in Galatians 3 and 4 that we are free from the Law (see Romans 7 as well).  We are now under the "Law of Christ". (I Cor. 9:21; Gal. 6:2).   We are commanded to obey Jesus' teachings and his New Testament commands. (Look at I John 14:21; I John 3:22-24).  Pastor Mark has some great teaching on the subject. Look at his tapes on Romans 7 and on the "Law" and/or "Ten Commandments".
