"Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." NAS

No, we are not spirits before our earthly body is created, this idea is taken from the Mormon doctrine that says man is a pre-existent spirit who takes his body at birth.
