Simply put, the five points of Calvinism declare: “you will be saved or damned for all eternity because you were saved or damned from all eternity.” [Quote taken from “The Five Points of Calvinism” – George L. Bryson].  An Armenian essentially believes the opposite, in that those who are saved are irresistibly compelled to be.  There is much to read and know about both positions; hence the abbreviated answer here.

Calvary is somewhere in the middle of these two doctrines.  Basically, Jesus paid the penalty for everyone and will save whoever is willing to be saved.  Everyone is eligible and everyone is free to accept or deny Christ.  No one is destined for hell; everyone there chose Hell over life in Christ.  God’s Will is that everyone be saved, but He does not force anyone to do so.
