| I've heard Pastor Mark mention not using certain slang expressions. Can you tell me what those are? Thanks! |

Most likely, Pastor Mark was referring to "substitute" words - (ie - darn, dang, shoot, crap, heck, fricken) Assuredly, the list goes on, but the idea is that we, as Christians, want to rightly represent Christ in everything, including our speech. "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." - Eph 4:29
This principle exist for the purpose of glorifying Christ in holiness, not so as to place us under the law again. As we grow in our faith, the Lord will surely help us "clean up our speech". We can't forget we are covered by the blood of the Lamb and living in the wonderful grace of our Lord Jesus. We want to be careful not to condemn those who are a little further back in this process of controlling our tounges. The Holy Spirit is quite sufficient at sweetly convicting us and teaching us to walk in holiness. |
