Question / Issue
Please, assist me in understanding how the Christmas tree is part of the worship of Baal? This is what the I have heard lately and are debating to have a Christmas tree this Christmas?

Answer / Solution

We have never found any convincing argument that the Christmas Tree was related to Baal worship.
The case that many have brought against Christmas is littered with problems that tend to discredit the theory that Christmas is pagan and affirm the position that it is a Christian holiday.  The pagan festivals that are wrongly associated with the third century Christian celebration are at least a few days removed from December 25th since the winter solstice is closer to the 21st of the month.Baal worship had disappeared well before the third century when the Christmas holiday was introduced.

Some Christians have incorrectly used Jeremiah chapter ten to claim that God finds the “cutting down of a tree form the forest” a detestable thing.  This passage speaks of cutting down tree in order to make an idol, not decorate a tree.
