| The best evidence of having been filled or baptized with the Spirit is that you have power to witness and live a victorious Christian life. That's what Jesus said would happen when his disciples were filled with the Spirit. Note that there is difference here between receiving the Spirit (when one is born again) and being filled with the Spirit. Every Christian has the Spirit within them, but there is also the experience of being filled or baptized with the Spirit which is for the purpose of giving power to the believer. There may be an accompanying experience such as the manifestation of tongues, but not necessarily. D.L. Moody's experience of being filled with the Spirit was that waves of love for God and others came over him. |
