Question / Issue
Preterism, what is this teaching that the pre-trib research center website briefly mentions as a critique of Hank Hannegraaff? Is this term a valid 'new' belief today?

Answer / Solution

Preterism is the belief that eschatology (end-time prophecy) has already happened.  History loosely records that the Catholic Church promulgated the idea in the 1500’s in order to divert attention from the association with the Catholic Church as “the beast” of Revelation.  Preterism is not orthodox, nor is it correct theologically.
