| Why were the Pharisees so against believing in Jesus as the Messiah? They still were stuck on Moses Laws. Why did they say that a Prophet doesn't come from Galilee? Where did they get their information if they suppose to know the scriptures? |

The Pharisees were masters of a Jewish religious philosophy characterized by the term “haggadah”. Jesus, while also the Master of this, came to preach what Talmudic communities would call “halakah”. Haggadah = the letter of the Law Halakah = the intent of the Law Matthew chapter five contains the Sermon on the Mount. It is an excellent example of the difference between Haggadah and Halakah. The following passage from Matthew five illustrates this point explicitly. Matthew 22 "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty {enough to go} into the fiery hell. The intent of the Law was a matter of the heart more than that of deeds. This theme is repeated extensively by Jesus Christ Himself, as well as the Apostle Paul’s discourse throughout the New Testament.
