Question / Issue
Mormons do believe that Jesus is their Savior (He can forgive their sins-is the Son of God) but not that Jesus is God as Christians do, can they still be saved?

Answer / Solution
Mormons have worked hard to make their doctrines sound Christian. More of their new members come from mainstream Christian churches than any other source, so it's in their interest to appear as "Christian" as possible.

But the bottom line is that they are preaching a salvation of good works, and they don't believe that Jesus is God, so if they are following Mormon doctrine, they are not saved.

Jesus said in John 8:24-25
"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He,  you will die in your sins."

The literal rendering here is "unless you believe that I AM, you will die.." That is the name that God gave to Himself when Moses asked what they should call Him (Exod 3:14). So it's necessary not only to believe that Jesus is a Savior, but that He is God in order to be saved.
