Question / Issue

Is the Prayer of Jabez book a scam or something? It sounds a little like a name it and claim it theology.

Answer / Solution

Its basically hype.  We know virtually nothing in the Bible about Jabez.  The model of prayer for a Christian was given by our Lord.  When the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Lord teach us to pray" (Luke 11:1-4 ), He didn't send them to the prayer of Jabez.  He gave them the model prayer we know as "The Lord's Prayer".
