John's Bio
I was raised in a Christian home with an older brother and sister. At seven years old, in Sunday school, I accepted Jesus as my savior. From that point forward I had a desire to know and understand God's Word and enjoyed the fellowship at church.
As I began to learn about God, I thought His love and acceptance of me was based on following a system of rules and regulations (i.e. church attendance, Bible reading, being good, etc.). Also, I struggled with being ashamed of my Christianity when I was around friends at school who made fun of "religious" people. In seventh grade God called me into full time ministry. From that time through my junior year in High School I was devoted to God's work while at church, however at school I would "fit in" the crowd I was around, which resulted in a life of hypocrisy.
At summer camp, before my senior year in High School, I was confronted with whether I was going to whole-heartedly, unashamedly commit my life to God, or not. That evening I decided to give my life fully to Christ's lordship and from that point on, God has continually and faithfully demonstrated Himself to me in a loving and intimate way.
Over the next four years God's truth of grace set me free to ENJOY my relationship with God! I began to DESIRE to read my Bible. It was no longer a duty or chore. During my college days I saw God continue to confirm His call on my life as I had opportunity to use what He has given me through a Christian fellowship on campus. It was also during this time that I met my beautiful wife, Cami. During our senior year in college, Cami and I helped start a church in Flagstaff. From there we moved to Alaska and saw God establish and refresh family relationships, grow us up in our faith and begin to define His calling in our lives.
In 1995 we moved to the valley and began serving in a local church where God continued to grow us and mature us in our relationship with Him and in ministry. From there we moved to Calvary and allowed God to refresh us and rebuild us. Through each year, each experience and each relationship in my life, I have seen God continually prove Himself faithful! What an awesome God we serve!
He continues to grow us in His grace and show His love toward others and ourselves. He has given us a desire to share this with others so that He may be glorified and that the body of Christ may be strengthened to glorify Him as well. |
